Rajiv Gandhi college of Engineering Research & Technology, Chandrapur has inaugrated the Robotic Lab in
memory of Late Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam at department of Computer Technology on 28th July 2016, by the
hands Mr. Ashutosh Salil, IAS, District Collector, Chandrapur under the prseident ship of Shri Shantaramji
Potdukhe, President SPMS Trust & Ex Minister of Finance, Govt of India.
Dr. K.R.Dixit, Principal enlighted his words of encouragement to the department for their success in opening
this lab. He also added, “Yesterday was first death anniversary of A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. Nation will always
remember missile man of India for his contribution to the society. As a remembrances of his contribution the
newly established Robotics lab is given his name”.
Dr. (Mrs.) Rahila Sheikh, Head, Department of Computer Technology & Information Technology highlighted
regarding this Robotic lab which is setup under e- Yantra project by IIT Bombay and sponsored by Ministry of
Human Resource Development (MHRD) through the National Mission on Education through ICT ( NMEICT) .
The aim of e-Yantra project is to spread education in Embedded system and Robotics. e-Yantra Lab setup
initiative supports infrastructure, creation at colleges by providing a platform of training teachers in Robotics
and providing guidance in setting up a Robotic Lab at college.
Four faculty member from College, Dr. (Mrs.) Rahila Sheikh , Prof. Parag Dhankar, Prof. Prerana Dahiwade,
Prof. Farha Qureshi has taken efforts to establish this lab and for successful completion of four months Online
Task – Based Training given by IIT Bombay on Firebird V Robot, also they scored Grade A in the training.
And IIT Bombay has given certificates, Free Robotics kits and cash prize as rewards to team members. Students
from various department are also enrolling for Robotics Club. Member of Robotic club will be given hands on
training on Robotic Kits.
Simultaneously. nationwide many Robotics lab were inaugurated. Dr. A.P.J.Abdul Kalam Memorial Robotics
Lab was inaugurated online by e-YANTRA, IIT Bombay and Dr. K.R. Dixit, Principal,RCERT, Chandrapur.
The Program was followed by unveiling potrait of “Dr. A.P.J.Abdul Kalam” by the hands of Shri. Shantaramji
Potdukhe, President SPMS Trust & Ex Minister of Finance, Govt of India. And Shri. Ashutosh Salil, IAS,
District Collector, Chandrapur and he was felicited with the memento by precident of function Shri.

lab. The whole program was conducted by Ms. Karuna Pillai.
